Are you an emerging practitioner or change maker working in the field of social innovation and creativity in cities?
Would you like to work on actual city challenges with young social innovators from other countries?
If your answer is yes, then we would like to hear from you.
We are now recruiting engaged, young social innovators who want to learn, share experience and make a positive difference by working in the international Urban Ideas Bakery on real city challenges.
The Urban Ideas Bakery is organised as part of the British Council’s Creative Cities project. It is a group of innovators and sector experts drawn from across Europe who will work out practical solutions to actual city challenges using a unique and innovative process developed by the British Council and partners. The Urban Ideas Bakery will culminate in three international events in Norway, Hungary and Lithuania starting this autumn. Each event will last from two to three days. During these events the Urban Ideas Bakers will work on specific needs and challenges defined in collaboration with city authorities and in consultation with city residents. Together, the Urban Ideas Bakers will deliver fresh, custom-made, practical solutions to issues such as community building, developing creative clusters, cultural policy and programmes, recreational spaces, environmental issues, integration, sustainable transport, health, and crime prevention.
By becoming an Urban Ideas Baker you will have an opportunity to build your knowledge and skills, and a network of contacts across Europe.
Are you up for the challenge? Would you like the opportunity to be part of an emerging network and bring about positive change across international borders? Do you want to acquire new and useful tools? Do you want to help real communities find new solutions to complex challenges? Do you want to share your own experience and innovations?
If you would like to be an Urban Ideas Baker, please complete the
online application form.
We want to know about you, your skills and experience, and match you with the right challenges.
Some Bakers will have an opportunity to participate in one of the international Urban Ideas Bakery events - around 10 Bakers per event. The first Urban Ideas Bakery event is planned for autumn 2009 in Norway, with events in Lithuania and Hungary following shortly after. The British Council will cover the travel, accommodation and subsistence costs for successful candidates participating in an Urban Ideas Bakery event.
