Background
Voldparken is a residential area on the outskirts of Copenhagen with approximately 10,000 residents. The area lacks a community centre and recreational spaces that would improve the quality of life in the area and also attract residents from other districts. The Voldparken Future City Game focused on the main challenges facing the area and was co-organised by the Municipality of Copenhagen.
Objectives
The game brought together Voldparken residents from diverse backgrounds and involved them in debates on the future of the area. Two days of brainstorming and research led to a couple of interesting ideas. And since the final two ideas complemented each other perfectly, we decided to merge them into one stronger idea that more efficiently copes with the main challenges. The residents showed great interest in and motivation for the realisation of the winning idea to use former school buildings as a new community centre. Furthermore, the winning idea has received additional funding to explore the idea further.
Winning idea
The winning idea transforms an old disused school into a community centre offering various activities and events and improving the quality of life in Voldparken. The community centre would also house a health centre and would become a focal point in the area. The idea received substantial funding for a scoping and feasibility study and has already been developed further by two local architects.

Winning ideas from the other teams
Since the final two ideas complemented each other perfectly, we decided to merge them into one stronger idea, Energicenter Voldparken, that more efficiently copes with the main challenges.
