Background
The event had two aims: first, a shortened FCG session focusing on the Suvilahti area of Helsinki (a site of disused industrial buildings whose environs are to be developed in the near future). After the session, the participants discussed the game and its potential is for empowering ordinary city residents.
Winning idea
The winner of the game session was the proposal of the third group, the "Studio-hostel". The aim of this pragmatically orientated proposal was to aid interaction between workers in the cultural sector with other people. The Studio-hostel would contain short-term accommodation facilities and a restaurant alongside artists' studios and exhibition spaces, which together would provide opportunities for different types of people to interact and reap synergy benefits. This concrete and interesting proposal was crowned by a creative finger-puppet show, which was an entertaining way of illustrating such an idea.
