Background
The municipality of Sønderborg has created a policy for the rural districts in the area. The vision is to create better conditions for social activities and inspiring experiences in the rural districts in the municipality of Sønderborg.
The rural districts have a diverse social composition, where families with children, senior citizens and younger people, all with different backgrounds are represented. This is also one of the strengths of the rural districts - their diversity should be used as a generator to strengthen local solidarity.
Objectives
The aim is to create new meeting places for the population in the rural districts. A meeting place could be a community centre, an open spot in a village, a wood etc. The only limit is the players' imagination. The municipality of Sønderborg wants to support development projects in rural districts because such projects can make the villages more attractive not just to the people who already live there, but also the newcomers. If the villages are alive and offer a range of different activities, residents are more likely to stay in the villages rather commute to larger cities.
Winning idea
A truffle wood
Dynt Skelde Gammelgab’s idea was to grow a truffle wood locally. The wood could in time supply local restaurants with truffles. In addition to being a delicious culinary speciality, this could be a way of generating income in an area with few other income opportunities. In addition to the truffle wood, there was also an idea to grow birch trees to produce birch juice and wild berries that could be picked and used locally.
Winning ideas from the other teams
A meeting place
Egen wants to extend their existing meeting place with a house to a bonfire and fruit trees next to the playground. The meeting place should also be the start and end for walking, running and bike routes around the local areas.
Enjoy, perceive and use the forest
Avnbøl-Ullerup’s idea was to further develop areas in Avnbøl Sned forest. The forest should be a place where you can enjoy, perceive and use the forest. The forest can be used as a learning centre for biology and nature and technique.
A new community centre
Svenstrup wants to extend their local community house. The first floor is not beeing used, so they want to build an activity centre which can be used by all ages of the village. The activities could be: a youth club, carpet curling, meeting point for all clubs in the village and IT for everybody.
