Background
This game was initiated by Muranow Station, Srodmiescie district and Wola district. The game took place in Joanna Klimas Atelier.
Objectives
The aim of the game was to find ways in which we can activate the residents of Muranow and to improve the quality of life in this district. The ideas should also make Muranow more attractive to the rest of Warsaw.
Winning idea
Book festival in Nowolipki
This event will be connected to the book tradition of the Nowolipki Street. It was once full of bookshops and people selling books on the street, but now have gone.
This would be a one day event to encourage the owners of publishing houses, bookstores, second-hand bookstores and Warsaw residents to trade and sell books. Their stands would be on Nowolipki Street, which would be closed for the day. This one-day festival would also activate the local community through various literature-related events in the backyards of the street and readings within the area of the Muranow district.
Winning ideas from the other teams
Info-island
This idea is a reaction to the incoming wave of tourists connected with the opening of Museum of the History of Polish Jews. This idea would put ‘Info-Islands’ in various locations of Muranow. These would include a bicycle stand, a bench, and an information board (in Polish, English and Esperanto, since Muranow is where Esperanto was invented)
Muranow Jaws
The idea is to create a network of mobile information points. These points would include: information about Muranow, a tour-guide through Muranow, maps, and souvenirs. The model of the ‘jaws’ and the graphic identity of its contents would be created through an open contest among art schools.
Discover Nalewki
This idea focuses on the history of Muranow and, through various events, seeks to outline the history of Nalewki Street. Discover Nalewki Festival will bring back the feeling of the street before World War II: its Jewish character, Klezmer music, arts events, Jewish cuisine, theatre, workshops for children. It could be the basis for creating a new image of a street that has a long and interesting history.
Green Muranow
This idea includes arranging the greenery of Muranow, creating a space for outdoor events, concerts and festivals. The project is intended to activate and integrate the residents of Muranow, and create an attractive space within the district.
