Thriving in recovery: How cities and regions can prosper over the next decade

The Work Foundation in partnership with the OECD LEED programme is hosting an Ideopolis conference

Thriving in recovery: How cities and regions can prosper over the next decade

This one-day conference will set out the drivers of growth over the next decade and the roles that cities and regions can play in driving economic recovery over the next decade, drawing on UK and international case studies. New research from The Work Foundation will also be launched, reviewing the geography of economic recovery and the policy levers that can support cities and regions to drive economic prosperity and social inclusion.

Why attend?

This conference is the only international conference looking at how cities and regions can drive economic recovery over the next decade – and will include the latest policy agendas following the election.

Delegates will take away:

  • Analysis of the drivers of economic recovery and what this means for cities and regions;
  • A framework for economic recovery that can inform the development of local economic assessments, city regional and regional strategies;
  • Update on new government policies post election;
  • Practical ideas about driving economic growth over the next decade, learning from UK and international cities;
  • Analysis of how to manage the impact of public spending cuts on employment and public services – particularly in regions which have become increasingly dependent upon the public sector for employment - combined with examples of how to mitigate the impact of cuts;
  • Detailed insights into growing the low carbon economy, ‘reinvented cities’ – cities transforming their economies post recession - and working with ‘anchor institutions’ such as universities to respond to recovery.
