Procurement as a strategic lever for focussing on social enterprise and other aspects of the local economy. On 9 December, the Danish Centre for Social Economy and British Council is co-hosting a workshop on the power of procurement - Indkøb med omtanke.
At the event Cllr. Bernhard Priest from Manchester City Council and Matthew Jackson from the Centre for Local Economic Strategies (CLES) will present the work that Manchester City Council has done around understanding the benefits of their spending on goods and services. CLES research with Manchester City Council has shown that progressive procurement policies can contribute to a range of local economic, social and environmental benefits.
