The city in Highlands 4 ideas realised in 2nd Inverness game

As yesterday a  great buzz and team working throughout the day. So what ideas have emerged?

Purple team - Riverside in Inverness
Main features include: linking part of city; ferry across Firth; Eden Court as cultural centre; provide link from castle to cultural quarter; link green areas with walking & cycling routes; Firth port and Ness Island to be protected

White team - Reclaiming the castle for residents and visitors.

Main features:"Vision statement - visitors can experience innovative and provocative new art, relax, have fun, learn and discover fresh, new ideas"; take historic town house and castle and put new low rise building as flexible space; new building as Town House and Highland Council building in GLASS in contrast to 2 old buildings with roof garden or outdoor exhibition centre.

Dramatic approach to new historic centre involves creation of small square/piazza.

Blue team - Making heart of Inverness bigger in proportion to sise of city

Main features include: green blanket over railway; new monorail to link football ground, airport, university, etc; maritime museum;art gallery; to encourage core of cultural development

Flip heart of city across the river

Red team - Life Inverness: just add water

Main features include: a vision to bring back to life the built and environment;  modern living alongside our local wildlife; reincarnation of the old Whin Park Hydro Scheme using modern technology; bringing power and light to this key area of the city that will promote a feel good factor, encouraging further investment in the city.
