... the VERY BRIGHTLY LIT main square - big white town hall in the middle. Well, I guess that's what a 'Rotuse' is - sounds like Rathaus in German. Yes, just Wikied it and it is the town hall, additionally known as 'The White Swan' - here's a picture:

Not many pedestrians about but the square curiously surrounded by couples sitting in their cars looking across the square at the Christmas tree. I'd have understood if it was youngsters with no place of their own to be alone, but these seemed mainly - without peering too closely - to be middle-aged people, who probably do have their own place. Poignant watching them watch that tree, something atavistic about it, the old heart of the city still exerting a pull - I'd like to think that there's absolutely NO-ONE sitting in their car watching 'The Acropolis'!
