The next case study is from Jon Rea from Nottingham City Council.
Nottinghim City Council see Future City Game as a toolkit for participation. In Nottingham, engaging children and young people something that has grown over the last years. Children and young people have in the past been victims of top-down decisions.
The underlying reason for doing this is because they want to make better decisions. It also give the children and young people learning and development opportunities. Finally, children and young people are the ones who will grow up and as adults have to live with the decisions.
Children and young people are open-mindned which refeshes democracy. Having fun is important as it refreshes democracy.
It took young people to get the 8 Core Cities to sit down and develop a "CityCard" which gives young people access to a range of services. This idea was earlier this week presented at the CoreCities summit and is now being worked on further.
Finally, we were encouraged to think about how we will all involve children and young people in our Future City Game. Please feel free to add your comments.
