Closing plenary, 3.45pm (23/03/2010)
23.03.2010

Tony O’Brien, British Council Director Poland, David Barrie, conference programme organiser, and Nigel Bellingham, Creative Cities Project Director, brought the three-day conference to a close with the question: “What are you going to do differently as a result of this conference?”

Some delegates said they were going to keep networking will all the people they met via a Google Group being set up by Blake Jennelle, while others committed to “looking East” a lot more.
“We in the West of Europe have a lot to learn from Eastern Europe”, said Micheal Pyner, chief executive of Shoreditch Trust in London.
Some vowed to go home and reassess their business models in the light of the advice received, while others said they would set up entirely new social enterprises. All appreciated the opportunity to meet with fellow social pioneers and share experiences.
David Barrie urged delegates to make the most of the resources on their free USB drives – short films, event blogs, collected twitter feeds, speaker biographies and presentations – and to sign up to the Creative Cities pages on Facebook and LinkedIn.
“I hope this is the beginning of a love affair” he said. “You are the future sound of Europe!”
